The team building programmes within cadet forces are designed to work alongside the leadership programme. Team building activities are designed to get cadets to think outside the box and to work together as a team. Some activities require a leader to run the evolution where others are leaderless tasks.

The programmes reinforce the leadership structure and styles that cadet forces adopt. Cadets learn about chain of command and lines of communication as well as the safety aspects of completing tasks. Cadets learn the value of being part of a team and that every individual has a part to play.

Some of the tasks require them to use knowledge and skills that they have learnt throughout their training. Team building activities are always supervised and undergo a strict risk management process before allowing cadets to participate in them.
