The skills programmes offered by the New Zealand Cadet Forces are those similar to those offered by other organisations although ours comes with a military flavour.
Cadets learn a variety of skills. Some skills are part of the annual skills competition held regionally and nationally. Some of the skills that cadets learn are:
- Navigation
- First Aid
- Radio Telephone Procedure
- Observation
- Firearms Safety and Marksmanship
- Knots and Basic Construction
- Survival Skills
There are other activities that cadets can get involved in. Some other activities include
- High and Low Ropes courses
- Rock Climbing
- Kayaking
All skills activities go through strict planning and risk management processes before cadets are allowed to participate in them.
