Skills Programmes

skillsThe skills programmes offered by the New Zealand Cadet Forces are those similar to those offered by other organisations although ours comes with a military flavour.

Cadets learn a variety of skills. Some skills are part of the annual skills competition held regionally and nationally. Some of the skills that cadets learn are:

  • Navigation
  • First Aid
  • Radio Telephone Procedure
  • Observation
  • Firearms Safety and Marksmanship
  • Knots and Basic Construction
  • Survival Skills

There are other activities that cadets can get involved in. Some other activities include

  • High and Low Ropes courses
  • Rock Climbing
  • Kayaking

All skills activities go through strict planning and risk management processes before cadets are allowed to participate in them.
